Breakfast with Squeaker

I am starting this week with the...

Sentence of the Week

"Pancakes! Pancakes! Eat those! Eat them! Ready? Ready?" We've been on the road a lot this summer, so Squeaker and I haven't had pancakes for breakfast in a while. When we got her up this morning, I announced that we were having pancakes. As was our habit, I set her up in her high chair so that she could watch me cooking. She seemed happy with the idea of pancakes, but once they started to take form on the griddle, the words started pouring out. The daddy person just couldn't seem to cook them fast enough for her. I think what she said says it all.

While we're on the subject of breakfast, there have been some changes over the last month. As I mentioned before in this blog, Squeaker had oatmeal for breakfast every day. Most of the time we put applesauce and cinnamon in the oatmeal. Sometimes we made it with bananas or banana baby food. If we didn't have milk then we would use baby yogurt. For most of the last year, oatmeal of some flavor was what Squeaker had for breakfast.

As an aside, I like Aaron Copland's Hoe Down playing as the soundtrack for this commercial, too. "Oatmeal, its what for breakfast!" Anyway, back to the story....

Squeaker finally revolted against oatmeal a few weeks ago. I wasn't there for the uprising, but since then Squeaker has been having scrambled eggs most mornings for breakfast. She seems to have adjusted to variety. That's all the news that's fit to print.
